Mormon Beliefs

Mormonism is a unique and often misunderstood religion. Mormons believe in the gospel of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This gospel is what He taught and established while living on earth over two millennia ago. Mormons believe the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith and contains every doctrine and ordinance necessary for each person’s happiness in this life and the life to come. When the gospel was restored in its fulness, the authority to act in the name of God was also restored. This “priesthood power” is the only power on earth that can have effect in heaven. It is found only in the Mormon Church, which is led by a true prophet of God.
The Mormon Church is officially called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is the name given by Christ to the Church during its restoration.
We know that the teachings of Jesus Christ can make a difference in the lives of every son or daughter of God. Mormons believe that every person has the right and the privilege to know what is true. All individuals can know for themselves through prayer and study. The Lord answers the prayers of those who have faith that He loves them and is concerned with their lives.

But the world in general gradually drifted into apostasy, relying on the precepts of men.
